We are all talking about how we handle things when we take our kids out in "public." If any of you have been reading this blog lately, you will know that I almost had an encounter at Wal-Mart. Here's my latest.
Yesterday, when we were at the mall with the whole crew, we took a break and let the kids play on the playground at the mall. I was sitting on a bench with Alex. (he was still in his carrier) Two moms with strollers and two little girls came up to the bench next to me. Both girls were precious, but I was particularly drawn to the one little girl.
She was a petite little peanut, and I could tell right away that she had to be from Guatemala. You know how cute our little ones are! I didn't say anything to the mom, because I didn't want to be one of "those people" - and what if I was wrong!! So, instead, I just stared at her kid!! :)
I eventually got Alex out of his carrier and had him on my lap. I could feel the mom of the precious one looking at me and Alex. She eventually came up to me and said, "Is he from Guatemala?" I said, "Yes, and your daughter is also, isn't she." She laughed, I laughed, we exchanged the important information (how old? when did she/he come home? who was your agency?) and then she was off to chase her daughter down.
I love it - and I love seeing more Guatemalan beauties!

I too had the Mall experience - The other Mom and I both teared up at the same time - maybe it was a combination of the Christmas lights and decorations everywhere and the GORGEOUS gifts from Guatemala we have all been given. It is hard to hold all that in sometimes - isn't it??
JUlia;)

So Cool! I do think Guatemalan children are beautiful!!!
That is a great encounter!! Those are fun, awkward at times, but turn out for the best! It's fun to find someone else with the similiar story/journey.
What a nice story. It's nice to hear that your encounters have been so positive!
OH, I CANNOT WAIT TO take Sofia to the mall or the grocery store of ANYWHERE when she comes home! :)
