You guys did such a great job giving me book suggestions last year, I figured I'd try with car suggestions. :)
As I've mentioned before, both of our cars have very high miles (mine - 154,000, Jay's over 250,000). So, we are starting to be in the market for a new-to-us car/SUV/mini-van/crossover.
There are just too many to choose from!!!
Does anyone have a vehicle that they really like? I would like something larger than a sedan (although I REALLY like my Chrysler 300). Something that rides nice, has lots of storage, is either front wheel or all wheel/4 wheel drive. Good gas mileage would be nice, but since I'm not driving into work every day of the week now I'm not putting as many miles on my car as before.
We will only be buying used - under 50,000 miles - and hopefully somewhere in the $10,000-$13,000 range. (since we are a Dave Ramsey family now - cash only!!!) Even if you don't think your suggestion would fit in our price range, still let me know.
The cars I've been looking at are the Chrysler Town and Country, Honda Oddysey, Kia Rondo, and the Chrysler Pacifica. I haven't gone out and done any test driving yet - but maybe in the next couple of weeks.
Thanks in advance!!!

Kim - I have a lovely Chevy Trailblazer that I will sell you. It has 71k miles, though. . . but lower than your budget!
We have a Chrysler Town & Country, and it is very nice. Wonderful with the babies. We found that was the best deal on a van with the features that we wanted.
I have an Expedition now. NOT good on gas, but otherwise, I love. Before this truck, I had two Jeep Grand Cherokees in a row. LOVED them both. Wish I still had the last one.
Our neighbor has a Rondo..she loves it. I think it's too cute :)
We're gonna be looking next year too.
Good luck:)
Let us know how it goes:)
Oh..Derek's party is July 13 if you're this way again..hehehe...just kidding.. :)
We have two words for you: Honda Odyssey.
I never thought I would buy a mini-van but now that we did, I'm not sure I would ever go without one. Even if we didn't have kids! Good gas mileage, very comfortable, drives great, lots of cargo space and best of all, it's easy to get the kids in and out. We love it. Both set of our parents have Grand Caravans that they like as well.
Once you go the mini-van route, you'll never look back!
HONDA ODYSSEY!!! i never wanted a mini van...but i am kicking myself for not getting this one sooner! love love love it!
My best friend has a Honda Oddysey and it very luxurious for a minivan.
I have the Toyota Highlander and LOVE it but am getting ready to go bigger as my kids are too big and bulky to ride around anymore with their friends (15 and 13 and then the carseat). I fyou are interested in mine, let me know... it is an '04 fully loaded with everything, even a nav system with 48K miles but more than your budget.
Before this, I had an Odyssey and l loved it too! I may even go back to minivan mom again, I liked it so much!
My MIl used to have a kia SUV and got rid of it quickly as stuff kept happening. We are hoping to get a different vehicle soon too. My 98 ford escort is now what Tim drives to work and the miles are getting higher and higher. We plan to look at the hyandai SUVs and possibly the Toyota Rav 4.
I love my Suzuki XL7.
Peace and Hugs,
Becca
The Buick Rendezvous is a nice ride and very roomy! Its all wheel drive that kicks in automatically. I was very close to buying one, but liked the LaCrosse better.
From what I understand the Town and Country is a really nice minivan. I have a Mountaineer but there isn't a lot of room! Good luck!
I can't help you with the perfect car... I really like my Civic, but it is probably a little smaller than what you are wanting.
We are probably going to miss the next LFC event unless Cohen has a super-fast recovery, so let's plan a playdate soon, OK?
Rich drives a Subaru Forrester, but we need it in New England. It doesn't have good storage space nor good gas mileage since it is all wheel drive all the time, but it ROCKS in the snow.
I love my Saturn Vue though--great storage and kid and mom's in mind when they created it.
We rented a Toyota Highlander and that was really nice and fit all our luggage in Atlanta.
Good luck!
Chrysler Town & Country would be my choice...I loved my Toyota Seqoiua(spelling) but it wasn't money friendly...I would love to have a van though.
Just got a Mercury Villager and I LOVE IT!! It has so much room for the kids and really works good on the highway with snow and slush and such... Had a Mitsubishi Montero before it and loved it too, until I hit 160,000 and the transfer case broke three times... (Only replaced it 2ce).
