We believe that Alex is going to be a climber. He can't even stand by himself yet, but he tries to climb on, over, around everything. It's actually kind of cute. I think I'm going to find him on top of the refrigerator someday.
We also believe that Alex was a beaver in a past life. He's learned how to stand up in his crib, and Jay found him gnawing on his crib. Jay is going to have to lower the crib to the final level and I'm going to have to find something to protect the crib.
I keep experimenting with new food for Alex. I tried Manderin Oranges this week. Oh my gosh!!! I've never seen him eat something so quickly. He's really getting good at chewing things now. I bought some mango, avocados, pears and peaches at the grocery store today, so I guess we'll try that. He still loves his puffs, and yogurt, but he doesn't like cottage cheese. He had some pasta this week also. He liked it but it was hard for him to pick up with his little fingers.
The medicine seems to be helping Buddy a little bit. We are actually able to get some sleep at night. It's obvious that he isn't all there anymore, but he still likes to go out to the barn and run and play. He's always been Jay's dog, but lately he wants to just hang out with me. I think it's because I was home for those 11 weeks, and I'm home most of the week now. I just hope we know when the right time will be. :(

Hello I came upon your blog while reading another blog and I like to read about your updates on your little guy.
Sounds like you could be talking about my son. He is an such a climber, we have the same kind of teeth marks on his bed and we've had to start buying canned mandarin oranges by the truck load.
Have a blastg with your little on

You're describing Gabriella to a T! I am not exaggerating when I say she won't let me sit on the couch with her for even 1 second. She immediately, pushes, climbs and fusses until I get up and get moving with her.
They make some plastic crib rail guards for babies that chew on them. I think you can get them at BRU. Shockingly, as much as Gabriella likes to chew, she doesn't chew on the crib(YET!).
Mandarin oranges are Gabriella's absolute favorite! She scarfed a whole can of them tonight. God Bless whoever it was that had suggested those! That and applesauce(just make sure it's the natural, no-sugar, no artificial sweeteners). Any fruit really is a favorite of hers, though I haven't gotten fresh mango or anything like that yet. We don't like mango, so I'm afraid most of it would go bad before she could eat it.
Gabriella is finally getting good at picking things up to eat, so we give her cut up green beans, carrots(I get the no salt canned ones so you don't have to cook them as they are soft already), pasta, cheddar cheese, turkey slices, avocado, etc. If we are having stuff that she can eat for dinner, I make sure to give her some of what we are having.
Even if Alex can't eat it himself, you can still just stick it in his mouth or use a spoon. I still do that for about 1/2 of her meals or we would be there until the next time to eat and I'd have to have 2x the amount needed since 1/2 ends up in her lap, on the floor, sides of the highchair seat, etc.
I just wrote a novel... gee.
Oh does that EVER sound like my son Alec. He was a CLIMBER and a BEAVER too. In fact...we totally threw out his crib and bought a new one for Mikayla due to "beaver marks." We could not put a plastic crib rail on the part he chewed on because it was a sleigh crib and was round. We will have to wait to see if Mikayla is Beaver #2.
Glad to hear that Buddy is doing better. I am with you Alex on the cottage cheese.
We have a climber over here--my sweet Caleb was a climber and into everything!!! It was crazy!!! I am here to tell you it does get better!!!! You are such a good momma with the mandarin oranges --I forgot about those!!! Caleb used to love them --I will have to buy them again--He is a very picky eater and I admit I have spoiled him!!! So I am always looking for healthy things that he will eat!!! I am glad to see Buddy is feeling better!!! :o)
The Beaver thing is too funny!!! Hey, I guess the guy's gotta chew on something when he wakes up hungry :) Brayden is also a mandarin orange maniac. He will inhale a whole 15 oz can and sign for more before he finishes the last couple of bites. I'm glad to hear that Buddy is doing better. You've got me thinking that maybe I need to talk to our vet about Lillith's issues. . .
