Stupid Old Man

****WARNING - There very well may be cussing in this post ****

Our plane left Saturday morning at 6:00 am. We had to get up at 3:00 - get Alex up at 4:00 to get to the airport on time.

When we got on the plane, I noticed that there was a couple sitting in front of us that was immediately very friendly to us, and an older gentleman sitting behind us that look annoyed that a little kid was sitting in front of him.

We got Alex in his seat and he was SO excited to be going to Flrrda.

We were delayed leaving the gate and then had to be deiced. Alex didn't understand the delay and just wanted to go "higher and higher." He started getting loud and whiney.

The plane was quiet - except for him. He wasn't have a full blown fit, but he was yelling, crying and just being two. I was trying to distract him and talk quietly to him.

And then - this asshole behind us leans forward and goes, "SHHHHHHH."

Seriously???? It took everything within me not to turn around and yell at him. But what was I thinking - everyone knows that when you shush a two year old they listen! :)

I was so pissed off. Alex eventually settled down. (and the nice lady in front of us was talking very sweetly to Alex - I think she heard the crotchety old man behind us)

You know - this was a Saturday morning - the weekend before Thanksgiving. This wasn't a Monday morning - this wasn't peak business travel time - and he wasn't being horrible. I'm still fuming about this.

And the worst part - after we got up in the air - said jerkwad feel asleep and started snoring. I wanted to turn around and shush him SOOOOO badly but I was trying to set a good example for Alex.

Asshole

So sorry for laughing... but I would have snapped around and shushed him with no hesitation. Some people have nothing better to do with their time than make others miserable. Glad he got in a nap!

Hope you guys are having an awesome time!!

You have more self control than I do! I would have turned around and done it. We were eating out with my parents tonight and Bella started fussing b/c of a bad diaper rash and just being out of sorts. There was a couple in there. It was apparent they did not have children and the woman kept looking at us, rolling her eyes and then talking about us. I was furious and let her know it. Not rude... just letting her know that her day would come, too!

Rude people irritate me!

I had one of those on the way back from Alaska once. Cameron is pretty much an angel on airplanes, but he accidentally kicked this beyotch's seat like three times in a 6 hour flight and she turned around and glared and "huffed" every time. I would just glare back. Come on lady...are you serious? Loosen up!

The funny thing...her husband made a point to comment on how good Cameron was when we were getting off the plane!

You are a better woman than I am, I definitely would have said something to him. I probably would have said something when he ssshed my 2 year old OR I would have seriously considered letting my child be even LOUDER just to annoy him.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and do not let this jerk ruin your trip.

Maybe Mr. A$$hole should have opened his window and climbed out of the plane. It would have been so tempting to give him a taste of his own medicine, but why give him the satisfaction of lowering yourself to his level. I think Alex is absolutely adorable and I hope your family has a Happy Thanksgiving.

OK, I'm with Sarah. Sorry for laughing.

but, geez, yeah, asshole. Um, hello, you're flying to Florida before the holidays and what, you expect no kids on the flight and total silence???

I'm thinking that maybe some of Alex's juice should have "accidentally" spilled all over him while he was snoring away.

I am laughing so hard right now! Yes, you did the right thing, I probably would have to, but man!, what a great opportunity to have shushed him!

Good luck with the flight home.

I'd have to remind the man that he was once a two-year-old too. Anyway, I would have turned around and told him (in front of everyone) that you finally got your two-year-old settled and he is now distracted by your loud snoring. Really, you should get that checked out.

And THAT is why I am so glad I don't travel any more. Not because of kids like Alex. Because of jerks like that who treat kids like Alex like he did. Whatever. I would have moved my seat waaaaaaay back ;) And then bounced a bit. But that's just me :)

Savannah was SCREAMING and CRYING when we were descending into Vegas. Her ears were killing her and she did not understand. Everyone was nice though. She was perfectly behaved before the last 20 minutes. One gentleman a few rows back came up to me with a pack of gum and asked if she was too young to have gum. Yes, she is two. She wouldn't even know what to do with gum.

That is infuriating. What do people expect. Everyone was a child once and most people have had a toddler. I felt bad when Savannah was crying, but more for her. What can you do? You will never see him again--luckily.
