What a Weekend

Well - we made it!! We had a great weekend with my folks. I'll post some interesting pictures later. :)

One of the great things about the weekend was getting to meet Bekah, Drew and Benjamin. You can read about their adventure here. Bekah and Drew had just returned from visiting their beautiful daughter. It was so nice to meet them and spend some time getting to know them. Bekah just posted an amazing video of their visit trip. I'm warning you - if you have ever adopted this will make you bawl!!!

Pictures coming - I promise!!!

We are leaving tomorrow after work to make the 6 hour trek to my parent's house for a long weekend. Pray that Alex sleeps - and that I continue to feel a little better.

Alex's Pictures - and Sick - AGAIN!!

Well - we've had an interesting weekend.

Alex's picture session on Friday morning went great. He then came home, slept for 4 hours, had a bottle and then decided to give the contents back to me - on my lap (if you know what I mean). He then vomited and had nasty diapers all day Saturday.

Saturday night I started not feeling so well. Sunday was the worst. I literally was making sure Jay knew all of our passwords, was giving him instructions on the type of women he could marry, and assured him that my life insurance was paid up. I really thought I was going to die.

I ended up staying home from work today, but still worked all day. I still have a low grade fever, but I'm starting to feel better. Jay came home from work early today also not feeling well.

Yuck!!! I hope NONE of you get this.

I did go to the photographer today to see Alex's pictures. You can see them by Clicking here The password is khartz. I'm sorry - but he is just the cutest. I'm going to have a really hard time deciding.

What a Week

Alex started running a fever on Saturday night. He had no other symptoms - and it was too high to be his teeth. Sunday wasn't much better.

Jay ended up staying home with him on Monday, and I kept him with me on Tuesday. We went to the doctor, and they didn't find anything wrong with him. We think it was just a viral fever. It broke Tuesday night, and he now seems to be fine.

I spent the day Wednesday in Chicago on business (left the house at 6:30 am and returned at 12:15 am on Thursday!!)

We had our 6 month post-placement meeting today. Alex had just gotten up from a nap, so he wasn't in his usually hamming it up self. :)

I'm taking him to get his first professional pictures taken tomorrow - I hope he's in a good mood!!

Dear Kroger Shopper

(Editor's note: In honor of Michelle I'm attempting my Dear Someone post. Michelle is in Guatemala right now fostering her beautiful daughter Sabrina, and she is one of the best blog writers I've come across. Her posts crack me up!!)

Dear Kroger Shopper,

Your family looks lovely. Your husband and four children seem very nice. I'm impressed that your girls walked next to you holding hands. They seem very polite and I'm sure you love them very much. I'm just wondering what kind of example you are setting when you have a t-shirt on that says

Don't
Smoke
Cheap
Pot

Prayers Please

****UPDATE****

The judges decided to put the court case off until Thursday. There is a person who is acting as the POA for the bmom and he petitioned the courts to push the date back. They didn't totally agree with him, but did give him a couple more days. Hopefully there will be good news on Thursday.

I have a virtual blogger friend who is in Kazakhstan trying to bring her son home. She (and her husband) have had a really tough time. They were about done with the 15 day bonding with a little boy, and his mother came back. That adoption had to be stopped. They were then matched with a new little boy, went to court, and on the day that this little boy was going to be able to stay with her forever, his mother also came back. This is unheard of, and as you can imagine, has been devastating for the family.

There is a special court hearing tomorrow to determine the fate of this little boy. The judge can let the adoption go forward, or she (I believe they have a panel of female judges) can stop the adoption. If the adoption is stopped, this little boy will probably live in an orphanage the rest of his life, as the mom isn't really able to take care of him.

Please pray for this family. Pray that God's will is done in this little boy's life, and especially pray for strength for D. She is pretty worn out, as she has been in country for a very long time without her husband.

My Son - The Bully

Yes, I actually wrote it out.....my son is a bully. Well, he may actually just be 11 months, but I'm thinking he's going to be a bully. From the time we met him we knew that he knew what he wanted. He's always been that way. Lately, he's been bullying other kids. :( I hope it's just an age thing, and he outgrows it.

This video is a good example. This was taken Easter morning in the nursery. Alex is really into opening and closing doors right now. He loves the kitchen play set in the nursery as there are 4 doors to open and close.

Watch what happens when the older kids come over to play. The little boy he pushes is almost 4 years old!!!

Yikes

More Pictures of My Busy Boy!!

Here are some pictures from Alex's fun with our underwear. Some of them are out of focus, but I still love them. (and you will notice that I look really excited in these pictures)

This is Alex hugging his Oso (oso is bear in Spanish - and I think I spelled it right). This is a Build-a-Bear that we made before our visit trip. I recorded my voice in it, and gave it to him on our trip. We told our FM that we wanted it back at pick-up. He LOVES this bear. He gets SOOOO excited when he sees it, and loves to "hug" it. There is no doubt that Clara made a big deal about this bear.
Here is Alex with his Elmo table. I know that many of you have this same table. Alex just adores it. But, are we the only ones that have a table that devours batteries? He doesn't have any other toy that goes through batteries like this does.

Alex will spend 30 minutes taking the top off of this toy chest and then playing with it. He's such a busy little boy!!

A Day in My Life

I really like to play with the cat, Lucky. Lucky seems to like me too.

Lucky likes to rub up against me, and I like to try to grab him.
We like to lay on the floor together. He cracks me up!!
Hey, Lucky, you aren't going to just lay there are you?
Surprise! It's me!! Can you believe that he ran away right after this picture was taken?
Ok - mommy finally got me out of those jammies. (do you see them on the floor) I was concentrating really hard right here.
Wait - mommy - do you see what I see??
Could it really be? Is it possible?
It is!!! It's the Wiggles!!! I LOVE the Wiggles.
See, mommy? They are walking on the moon!!

Now it's mommy's turn. I just love those short rompers. I just hope that we get warm enough in my lifetime to put him back in them!! We've been so cold (as I think everyone has). It's not even supposed to get out of the 40's today. I'd love to take Alex to the park, or for a walk, but it's just too cold.
Alex is still not sleeping at daycare. Monday he slept 30 minutes, Tuesday was 1 hour, and yesterday was 20 minutes. This can't be good for him! I just don't know what to do anymore. More than likely he will sleep for 4-6 hours today. Which means I still don't get to play with him as he's either going to be sleeping or eating.
Alex is starting to give me kisses - you know those open mouth baby slobber kind - and I love it.
Oh - and I almost forgot! We got a great package of stuff from our SBP!! Thanks whoever you are. I'll get pictures and post. Alex got some toys, a romper, and mommy got some bath stuff. Love it!!!!

Bath Time and Retail Therapy

Alex took a bath this weekend for the first time just in the bathtub. He liked having the extra room. We're going to do a bubble bath very soon. I think he will love it.

Here's the now infamous blanket. :) It's very pretty. Thanks Cheryl!!

I've been watching some of you blogger pals do some retail therapy lately. I decided that I needed to do the same thing. I'm not sure what my therapy reason is......but it was fun to shop!

Happy Easter

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. We had a wonderful (if not long) day. We were up at 5:30 am!! We had sunrise service at 7:00 where our choir along with another church's choir presented a cantata. Then it was breakfast - Jay then took Alex back home while I did some practicing. Then it was an Easter Egg Hunt, a short service at our church where I played piano, and then we rushed over to our neighbor church to do the cantata one more time.

Alex wouldn't nap this afternoon - and then we went to friend's house for Easter dinner. I'm exhausted!!

Alex was SOOO cute. Now, I know that everyone thinks that their child is the cutest thing ever - but my gosh - he takes my breath away!! Here are some pictures from today.

Alex also took two steps on his own!! Very exciting.

Here's his Easter outfit on the couch. I LOVE this outfit!!!

Alex and the Laundry

****Warning*****

If you are offended by underwear - stop reading!!!

I was attempting to fold laundry today when Alex decided to come over and help. He started out by pulling all of our underwear out of the basket and onto the floor. He then figured out that it would be even easier to get rid of everything if did the following......

We Pray

This was in our church's newsletter in April. I thought it was appropriate.

We pray for children
  • who sneak Popsicles before supper
  • who erase holes in math workbooks
  • who can never find their shoes

And we pray for those

  • who stare at photographers from behind barbed wire
  • who can't bound down the street in a new pair of sneakers
  • who never "counted potatoes"
  • who are born in places we wouldn't be caught dead
  • who never go to the circus
  • who live in a X-rated world

We pray for children

  • who bring us sticky kisses and fistfuls of dandelions
  • who hug us in a hurry and forget their lunch money

And we pray for those

  • who never get dessert
  • who have no safe blanket to drag behind them
  • who watch their parents watch them die
  • who can't find any bread to steal
  • who don't have any rooms to clean up
  • whose pictures aren't on anybody's dresser
  • whose monsters are real

We pray for children

  • who spend all their allowance before Tuesday
  • who throw tantrums in the grocery store and pick at their food
  • who like ghost stories
  • who shove dirty clothes under the bed, and never rinse out the tub
  • who get visits from the tooth fairy
  • who don't like to be kissed in front of the carpool
  • who squirm in church or temple and scream in the phone
  • whose tears we sometimes laugh at and whose smiles can make us cry

And we pray for those.
